Not only can one chamber 7.5 French in a 7.5 Swiss chamber, but it will shoot reasonable well. Other than a blown-out shoulder on the cartridge. Next time, double check the cartridge box.
OK, I've reloaded ammo and fire antique rifles before, so I'm with you most of the way, but I'm not sure what a blown out shoulder on a cartridge means. Is the rim torn?
Did that with .308s in a .30-06 M1 garand once when a .308 chamber sleeve fell out midway through a course of fire. They fired and ejcted fine, but they were all straight-wall when they hit the ground. Not recommended as a deliberate act, FYI.

ReplyDeleteLots of extra headspace. I basically unintentionally fire-formed the cases. Hoping I can size them back down.
ReplyDeleteNo torn rims though.
