Gratuitous Dog Post

A recent acquisition by our vet section here on post. The word is, dogs that make it into camp are supposed to be turned in to the vet, and dispatched, per the Force Commander. However, the vet section is American, and doesn't much care for offing perfectly good dogs. Although we're not allowed to keep them on post, the observation outposts along the border (Egypt/Israel) are allowed one mascot each. Nowhere near as nice as the typical home in the States, but better than a life of scavenging and avoiding the locals throwing rocks or worse for entertainment.

This one gets to stay until he's old enough for the Bob Barker procedure, then he's off to one of the Fijian outposts.

Oh yeah.

Yeah, there's not going to be any disappointments in the future for this chick.

Everything's GONNA BE ALRIGHT!

I don't mind the fact I have to handle your hairy leg and nasty foot several times to get you positioned for your x-ray; I've dealt with infants and drunk strippers before, so you're inability to hold still for more than three seconds, even though you're sober, doesn't bother me that much.

I can even put up with that wierd-ass little giggle thing you've got going on, and the fact that you have a personality that would a better fit for a sixteen year-old girl than a Sergeant in his twenties.

But I swear to God, if I have to listen you say "wheeeeeeeeee!" in perfect pitch for a little girl everytime I handle your damn leg, the next time you show up in the clinic I'm going to "accidently" drop an armload of x-ray cassettes right on your crotch.

Better Late Than Never

An interesting article (Building A Rightroots Movement) at Right Wing News about how the web networks between the Left and Right have progressed over the years, and where they currently stand. One interesting suggestion: it's time for the right to do more than passively listen to Right-oriented radio, and become more activist using conservative web sites. Same concept as netroots, without the insanity and foaming at the mouth.

I'm up for it. The Republican Party has been a top-down command model for too long, and is long overdue for some serious turnover in talent and methods. In other words, an internal revolution is warranted to clear out the deadwood, and get competitive again. If you're not changing with the environment, you're a prime candidate to get your ass kicked by someone faster and smarter.

It's time for the party to start reorganizing from the cutting edge and get using modern methods to organize. We're lagging behind the Left , but we can change that. And as the author notes, this will probably grow like a weed if The One gets what he wants.
