It's an original Bushmaster.
I had a couple back in the '70's. It was originally developed in 221 Fireball as an Airforce survival rifle. When they didn't buy, it was redesigned for 223 and sold commercially. The 'butt' is supposed to sit in your elbow and you fire from the hip. The trigger group swivels about 30 degrees to either side to use right or left handed.
The company soon came to it's senses and began making AR-15s instead.

Interesting information. I wasn't aware of any of that, and thought someone had cobbled that thing together in a basement somewhere. Looks like a solution in search of a problem.
I remember one though Bushmaster probably wishes nobody did. It had a rear sight though what good it did is hard to tell. as noted above the receiver was not rigid but flopped from left to right.
