I was thinking about this some more, and wanted to point out that another guitarist of nearly the same caliber - - Jorma Kaukonen, who played in the original Jefferson Airplane - - comes to Charlotte at least once per year, and is worth seeing. He does both accoustic sets (piedmont-style blues that he learned from Rev. Gary Davis) and hard rock from his days with Airplane and Hot Tuna. His Airplane/Hot Tuna buddy Jack Casady. Hell, maybe you saw them at Merlefest.

I never got to see him either, even though he played in Charlotte at least once a year. Never found the time. Damnit.
